What is CDS?

What Do We Do?

Our mission is to promote, develop and maintain CDS as a volunteer national emergency response team comprising of a network of regional Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) made up of volunteers trained in a variety of skills in order to assist primarily their local communities and also to respond to incidents in any part of Scotland and elsewhere in the United Kingdom when affected by emergencies and disasters, both man-made and natural.

Who Do We Currently Assist?

Most of our current on call activities are in Tayside & Fife areas.  CDS is currently developing regional CERT's in the Fife, Strathclyde, Lothian & Borders areas and we are in discussions with other Scottish SCG's.

  • CDS provides 4x4 vehicle assistance to NHS Tayside & NHS Tayside community midwife service .
  • CDS is a DEFRA registered asset on the National Flood Rescue Enhancement Project.
  • CDS offers support to any registered charity or community groups throughout Scotland who feel that our skills or assets could be of assistance. Please note that as Civil Defence Scotland is a charity with limited funding we will require to have fuel costs, replacement supply costs refunded.
